Since the classic rock radio format first established itself in the early ’80s, the definition of “rock music of the 1970s” has gotten reduced further and further down to a very specific handful of songs by an even more specific handful of artists. And while “Stairway to Heaven,” “More Than A Feeling,” and “Hotel California” are popular for a reason, there’s far more to the kaleidoscopic sounds of ’70s rock than what one may hear on the airwaves these days. This collection is a good way to start scratching the surface, with everything from forgotten singles by hazily-remembered acts to deep album cuts by icons of the era. With Nazareth, Lindisfarne, Aerosmith, Cowboy, Grand Funk Railroad, Captain Beyond, and more.
